When I try to calibrate, a big blue rectangle turns up on the pdf.
This is because the PDF page has a Viewport created, most likely from CAD software, and is causing your issues. Check the Calibration of the Viewport, it could be useful or delete it. Always delete UnNamed Viewports when the Revu dialogue box displays when you first open the file.
